Chromebooks for Our Classroom

My students need Chromebooks to be able to work independently at their various academic levels. The students need headphones to stay focused on their work.

My Students

Some students in my class do not have access to computers or Internet at home. The students love when they are able to have computer time during math and reading centers.

In my third grade class, I have seven boys and five girls.

These students are all at various academic levels in reading and math. The school is a rural, Title I school. My students come from a low income, high poverty area and they are struggling readers, writers and mathematicians. Very few of my students have access to Internet or computers at home. These students are excited everyday when they are able to read and solve math problems on the computers. However, the computers in our classroom are outdated and tend to not work properly, not allowing us to use them as often as we would like. Our school district is in budget crisis so our resources are very limited.

My Project

These Chromebooks will be a wonderful resource in my classroom. The technology in our classroom is very slow and outdated. My students will be able to use these Chromebooks during their math and reading small groups as they are working independently to meet their goals. They will be able to read books Online or listen to books. The students will be able to conduct research. The students need headphones to stay focused on their work. The Chromebooks will also allow students to download apps to help with their math fact fluency. These apps and websites will help the students know what they need to practice! Having this access to technology in our classroom will be great for the academic growth of my students.

These Chromebooks will help in our classroom because they will give the students more resources to extend their learning.

The students will have a greater opportunity to read newer and more up to date books and conduct research which we do not have in our classroom. These Chromebooks will help the students to grow as learners and to have numerous resources which work and are at the students' interests levels.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
