Chromebook Special For S. P. Hawks!
My students need 2 Chromebooks for more access to web based learning.
My students are digital natives and we are the immigrants! They learn through technology quickly and are motivated to seek more information daily. It is difficult have enough access during the day with limited space on the computers.
The kids here at S.
P. are GOOD kids. They come from homes where parents are working in town and often don't get home to the rural areas we live in until 7pm or so. They don't always have the opportunities to spend a lot of quality time together reading and writing in the evenings.
Many of the teachers here at S. P. tutor kids after school and before school for free. We love our kids and want to give them as much opportunity as possible in the classroom, as we know it is not always available at home. The kids are teaching parents to use technology and are like sponges when it comes to new ideas and research.
These Chromebooks will help us to quickly access web-based learning and research via the Internet. The children are preparing for the switch to Common Core and will be intensely reading and writing responses to real world reading. This will help us serve more children more of the time, and it will also help them practice their research skills in preparation for our pre-laureate projects. Also, I believe they can use the Kindle application and check out ebooks from the public library for free.
This program is so important because of not only the access to technology for our students, but also because Samsung has offered these books for classroom use at an extreme discount.
It is a chance for us to have high-quality technology at our fingertips daily in class.
