Help me give my students awesome experiences through technology by allowing them to create interactive biomes with the Makey Makey kits. Students will record facts about their biomes and allow others to choose their own adventures.
My class has a wide variety of students in a small mountain town. Some of my students are from families who have lived here for generations, while others are transplants from all over the country. They are down-to-earth kids who get real-life education daily. Most of them have parents who both work two or three jobs just to try to make ends meet, and many are not able to. This affects them emotionally, their health and sleep patterns, and their ability to focus on their education as they take on many adult responsibilities.
Every student deserves a chance to get away from real-life and learn with tools they would normally never have access to.
That's the purpose of this project.
Students will create interactive biome exhibits by using their Makey Makey kits to record information about their specific biomes. Students will explain the terrain, the climate, the abiotic and biotic factors, as well as examples of the food chain. Visitors will then be able to choose what they learn in their biome by tapping on the desired piece. This project brings the textbook and the Internet alive by forcing students to summarize the important information of the biome and presenting it in a clear and concise way for visitors to understand during their visit. Thank you for supporting the students.
