My Students

Most of my students love to read. I have some students who are reluctant readers and even fewer still who are non-readers.

My students love reading a wide variety of subjects and genres, and they love to discuss what they've learned through reading.

COVID-19 has impacted literacy in a way that I don't think we fully understand yet. Reading is so important, yet many students do not have access to books at home. I love providing books and reading recommendations to students to keep them engaged, even when they are not in the classroom.

My Project

COVID-19 had a significant impact on the literacy of students. Additonally, many students do not have access to books at home, so when schools are online, those students are not reading.

Reading is a critical component of developing literacy in our students, and students need access to books even when schools are not learning in-person.

This project will help me provide personal reading books to students that they can take home and read as well. Many students do not have access to books at home or through public libraries; additionally, I can help students select books that are appropriate for their reading levels. My classroom library is a great resource to help students sharpen their literacy skills, and this project will help add books to that resource.
