Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Last school year, 2017-2018, our staff identified 3,335 homeless students. This is 37% of our district! All of our students automatically qualify for free or reduced-price lunch due to the economic status of our community. Many of our parents are employed as field workers, where paychecks can be small or sporadic, especially in winter when there is not much work. More than half of my class speaks English as their second language, and some have special needs. With that being said, they all love to come to school and want to learn. They deserve all the resources we can give to help them to be successful in school.

My Project

My students are so excited to make their own STEAM books and bind them right in our classroom. A binding machine will make binding my students writing and art fast, easy and very professional. The different shape paper punches will help my students with their STEAM projects by having the shapes precut for them.

My students will be running many different types of restaurants with the Melissa & Doug food items.

This will help them with their math skill by adding and subtracting money while they run the restaurant. We hope to run a bakery, pizza parlor, and a ice cream shop different times of the year. The boxes will hold the different restaurant food items as we switch out the play area.
