Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach in a Title One school, which is predominately low income, multi-children homes. My students are primarily from Spanish speaking homes and over ninety percent are on free or reduced price lunch. Students cannot afford to purchase uniforms. My school is in need of a strong, athletically driven cheer program that allows students success by creating a spirit-filled athletic cheer and Pom program that is built around the needs of the school and the students. This program benefits all students in creating a school-wide pride and enthusiasm that only a great spirit line can bring.
These students are at risk and are in need of a spirit line program that provides not only athletic support, but the structure of athletics.
My school is supportive of the journey and we just need your help.
My Project
An athlete should be able to represent their school with pride and respect. Jefferson Middle School has had a change of coaching staff and as a result, the skirts for the girls uniforms have disappeared. We want to to take these athletes to games, preform in pep rallies and do volunteer work as role models and representatives of our school. These uniforms essentially are the work and dedication these fine young athletes aspire to be. Complete cheer uniforms would allow my athletes to look good and feel good when they are cheering events and it would make their school pride shine through.
