Our school is a middle sized school in a poorer part of Oklahoma City and as a result our cheer team lacks funding. The cheer team was not a part of the school for many years. Uniforms were mismatched and out of date by years. Many of the cheerleaders would not have a uniform at all if we used most of the stock on hand. Cheerleading is about leading pride at the school, and one of the most important and iconic pieces of the uniform is the bow. Our team needs to have unity and we need to be dressed each and every game from BOWS to TOES. This shoes school pride, pride in accomplishing the work needed to be a representation of the school, and a pride of school ownership. Bows, are critical not only to a uniform but to the safety of each of the girls when stunting. The bow is the physical checkmark that each girl has to know a girl is safely on the ground. Seeing a bow at eye level allows the bases and the backspots the most safety in a cheer that is stunt driven. Our girls are working on stunting and the girls need the bows to not only be professional but ultimately be safe.
