In a math classroom, a dull pencil or a lack of an eraser can be a major roadblock to a breakthrough. They were especially excited about the \"fancy\" sharpener—it has quickly become the most popular (and quietest!) tool in the room.\r\n\r\nWe recently used these fresh supplies during a \"Whiteboard Relay\" geometry challenge. Using the new EXPO cleaners and erasers, students were able to quickly iterate on their proofs and sketches without leaving behind messy \"ghost\" marks from previous problems. It turned a stressful review session into a clean, fast-paced, and collaborative game.\r\n\r\nWhat's Next for My Students\r\nWith the classroom now fully equipped with these \"daily drivers,\" we are moving into our unit on Coordinate Graphing and Data Plotting.\r\n\r\nPrecision is Key: Now that every student has access to a sharp, high-quality pencil, their graphs are becoming much more accurate, which is vital for seeing the correct intersections of lines.\r\n\r\nClean Slates: We will be using the whiteboards daily to track data trends. Having the EXPO Whiteboard Care kit ensures that we can start every lesson with a literal clean slate, keeping the focus on the data rather than old marks.\r\n\r\nSafety & Support: Even having the Band-Aids on hand provides a sense of security, ensuring that minor scrapes don't derail a student's focus during an intense lesson.\r\n\r\nThank you for providing the foundation that makes our math discoveries possible!","fullyFundedDate":1768591284826,"projectUrl":"project/from-basics-to-beyond-empowering-middle/9990959/","projectTitle":"From Basics to Beyond: Empowering Middle Years Math","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kazi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9318063_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696603637074","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9318063"},{"teacherId":9318063,"projectId":9982860,"letterContent":"The TI-30XS MultiView calculators have officially arrived, and they are changing the game for our math students!\r\n\r\nBridging the Gap: While home tech is great for basic math, these calculators use MathPrint™. Students can see their entire work history at once. It allows them to compare results and find their own errors—turning mistakes into learning moments.\r\n\r\nBuilding Confidence: These have been a lifesaver for my students who used to get overwhelmed by complex steps. Being able to toggle between fractions and decimals with one button has turned \"I can't do this\" into \"Look what I found.\"\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just buy hardware; it bought clarity and confidence for every student who picks one up. When the delivery arrived, my students were buzzing with excitement. It's funny how much a box of high-quality supplies can mean to a middle schooler—one student actually cheered because they no longer had to use a \"golf pencil\" with no eraser! Beyond the excitement, your gift has provided a sense of dignity. Students who used to walk into class feeling behind because they lacked a simple tool now walk in with their heads held high, knowing exactly where to find what they need.\r\n\r\nWe recently put these resources to work during our intensive unit on Graphing Linear Equations. In math, precision is everything. Watching my students use their new pencils to carefully plot points and draw clean lines of best fit on their coordinate planes was incredible. They were able to focus entirely on the logic of the math rather than struggling with broken lead or smudged paper. Having a \"fresh start\" with a sharp pencil has actually made them more willing to take risks and show their work, knowing they can easily erase and refine their thinking.","fullyFundedDate":1763492104411,"projectUrl":"project/a-pencil-in-every-hand-ensuring-readine/9886870/","projectTitle":"A Pencil in Every Hand: Ensuring Readiness for Daily Math","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Kazi","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9318063_orig.jpg?crop=360,360,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1696603637074","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9318063"},{"teacherId":10161365,"projectId":9554493,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous support, our students have been able to fully enjoy and benefit from the new PE equipment! One standout moment was during a recent lesson when students eagerly rotated through stations, using the new supplies to solve problems and explain their thinking with confidence and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, the reaction was pure excitement. Students immediately wanted to know what we would be learning and how they could use everything. Many of them shared how special it felt to have brand-new resources just for our classroom, and their sense of ownership and pride was clear from the very first lesson.\r\n\r\nBecause of your support, our learning doesn't stop here. These resources will continue to be used as we build on current lessons, tackle more challenging concepts, and expand our projects. Thanks to your support, our students are now equipped with the essential tools they need to dive into more complex problems with confidence and enthusiasm.\r\n\r\nCalculators: The new class set of basic calculators has been a game-changer for verifying solutions. During the challenge, students used them to quickly check their arithmetic steps after solving for the variable in equations . This allowed them to focus on understanding the algebraic process (isolating the variable) without getting bogged down or discouraged by a simple calculation error. The confidence they gained from instantly confirming their correct work was palpable!\r\n\r\nDry Erase Markers: Our small-group work has soared! Students now grab a whiteboard and a fresh, bright dry erase marker to work through problem sets together. They can instantly try a different strategy, erase a mistake, and write down their ideas without hesitation. This fluid, low-stakes environment has fostered incredible collaboration and risk-taking.\r\n\r\nPencils: The bulk pack of pencils has solved our daily logistics issue entirely. Every student now receives a perfectly sharpened pencil at the start of class, ensuring that the first 5 minutes are spent reviewing concepts, not scrambling for a writing tool. This simple tool ensured a professional finish, teaching them the importance of presenting their work with care.\r\n\r\nMesh Zipper Pouches: The durable mesh zipper pouch bags were the unsung heroes! We are now using them as our Permanent Project Pouches. Each student has their own, which currently holds their sealed time capsule envelope, a small set of colored pencils, and an activity tracking sheet. Everything is visible through the mesh, tidy, and ready for our Future Me follow-up activities later this year.\r\n\r\nSticky Notes: The vibrant sticky notes became essential for the brainstorming phase. Students used them to jot down their individual goal ideas for the future and then categorized them on a group wall chart before finalizing the entry for their capsule.\r\n\r\nAnd of course, the gentle facial tissues are right there on every table.
