This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

What better way to celebrate Earth Day and protecting our environment than with butterflies! Insects are all around us and my kindergarten students are very curious about the bugs that crawl around our school. Most of the time the insects are moving so quickly we have very little time to investigate.

Having these STEM butterfly kits in the classroom will give my students the opportunity to explore, observe, and get up close and personal with butterflies!

My students will be inspired to read, write, and observe these amazing insects! These hands-on activities will motivate them and it will be full STEAM ahead with learning about life cycles. When a child can see first hand the life cycle of a butterfly and then release that butterfly, they'll have a greater respect for nature.
