Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a title 1 school n Greeley, CO. We are a K-8 and have 5 rounds of every grade! The demographic of my school is mostly Hispanic and Somalian. We have students from every socioeconomic category, as well as students from every different type of family style. We have kids who face a lot of difficult because they might have parents in jail, parents who abuse drugs, parents who have died. We have students in foster care and living with grand parents. Our students face many difficulties and school is often their safe space where they know they will get two meals a day and get lots of love from many amazing teachers.

Although our students face a lot of obstacles they still try their hardest at school and enjoy being there.

Our school motto is "Bella's Family is my family" a lot of students embrace this and try to live by this everyday they are at school. Our kids are fun, loving, and all have strong personalities. We have our bad days, but that just makes the good days even better.

My Project

Carpets help define a space in a classroom. Mine will go in front of the board where i will do most of my instruction and Morning meeting. The carpet will help students know where their boundary is on the floor and it will help them stay in their space so they can focus. When there is no carpet students often roll around and do not pay attention. When i have a carpet like the one i requested i will be able to assign seats so everyone is in a spot best to support their learning.

Most of our day is spent on the carpet learning about all the different subjects or doing community building.

My school was not able to purchase me a carpet, but I would still like one to help my classroom environment and community.
