This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

How to care for personal health and hygiene is one of the more important life skills that students need to learn both in-home and at school. Students in our district represent a dense and diverse population. Each individual has their own hygiene needs. In the winter months when skin is dry and cracked, our students need resources to keep their skin properly hydrated.

Sometimes, skin care skills are not as sharply honed as they could be by the time students arrive at high school.

In ninth grade especially, students must juggle their learning with proper social hygiene, especially in neighborhoods like ours where the basic needs of students often go unmet at home each day. The necessary hygienic products are sometimes missing for our young scholars. Health and hygiene products like chapstick or lotion sticks are often overlooked basic needs that contribute to overall student success. These items, which includes protection for hand-feeding chickens (some feed has also been included here), will help protect and moisturize the skin of our scholars.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
