Care Package for Teens: Second Semester Stock-Up!

Help me give my students snacks, tissue, and paper towels to have on hand in our classroom to meet student health and hunger needs.

My Project

Our classroom is a place of community, shared expression, collaboration, mindful practices, and new learning experiences. A lot of things happen in here beyond reading and writing, and we like it this way! My students enjoy the vibrant space, a place where we try new things and support everyone.

The students come from all parts of our city and bring with them the experiences of their families, homes, neighborhoods, and the greater community.

Sometimes, these things enhance our learning and make it a richer experience for everyone. Other times, this brings chaos and conflict. Whatever the students come with, we work together to be a classroom community of learners moving forward to achieve success.When I think I've thought of everything, we're on the last box of tissue, or I'm out of healthy snacks for my students. Students will earn various rewards, such as healthy snacks or time in the reading nook, in my class by using the app PocketPoints. Students will download the app and earn points by NOT being on their cell phones. Once they have achieved 5 hours of no cell phone use, they can earn a snack!

Having supplies on hand for students to feel clean, cared for, and fed helps me make sure each student feels good about themselves and can be successful.

My classroom is a relaxing and calm space for my students to be themselves while exploring literature and the world around them. I want my students to know this is a safe place for them to express themselves, build relationships with staff and students, and further explore who they are.

We will be returning to in-person learning soon, and I want to be ready for my new students! I teach 3 Freshmen classes this year, and after all, they have endured during the year thus far.
