My Students

Our public school opened four years ago. While we have a new building, we are missing many of the things a school has been open for a long time. We are also working to build community with our families, who are often untrusting of the public school system.

Our students come from all over our city and are a very diverse group of kids.

Most of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunches, and many live in public housing. Many of our students struggle with reading, which impacts them in all of their classes.

My Project

The two most popular items in the maker space are hot glue guns and cardboard. While we have plenty of cardboard, it is hard to cut even with "big scissors." These kid save cardboard knives, and electric scissors will make creating out of cardboard a breeze.

The kids are so creative, and these tools will make MAKING easier for all; even kids will have small hands!

Hot glue guns are also a popular item. All of our kids get certified to use a hot glue gun, and it is incredible the things they make. These low-temperature glue guns will help keep our kids safe and building during their classes and lunch.
