My Students

My classroom is filled with many bright and wonderful students! They come to school ready and eager to learn with excitement in their eyes. Not only is every child inside my classroom different based on personalities, but each little person has also had different life experiences.

Our school is situated in a low socioeconomic area where more then one-third of our students come from low-income families.

We also serve a military community. Despite these various lives and experiences, my students are all eager to learn! As their teacher, I want to do the best that I can to make them enjoy school and learning.

My Project

As a Kindergarten teacher having a welcoming and comfortable learning environment is extremely important to me. Kindergarten kiddos are not meant to sit in seats all day long and listen to instruction. They are meant to have free choice and make a decision on what they want their learning environment to look like. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work for them and make them more comfortable. During independent work times, they choose a location in the classroom that works for them such as carpet space, clipboards, scoop chairs, and under tables.

Making sure students are comfortable is an essential component in motivating them.

I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. My students are excited and eager to move to different work areas in the classroom and to have different seating options. They accomplish so much while they are independently working while using flexible seating.

The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more effective learning choices. The rug will allow my students to have a comfortable floor space to work and sit at. They enjoy laying on the floor but a rug would allow for a cozier work spot. The steel stools are small enough for tiny bodies and will allow students the opportunity to work in a non-traditional chair. All of these new choices will help engage the students and make them eager to try and learn in a comfortable workspace!
