My Project

My second graders thrive when learning is hands-on, engaging, and connected to the world around them. I want to create a flexible “camp-style” outdoor learning environment where students can read, write, and explore while enjoying fresh air and movement.

This project will allow us to take learning beyond the classroom walls.

Students will use clipboards for writing and science observations, gather together on a picnic blanket for read-alouds and discussions, and participate in outdoor learning activities that bring lessons to life.

As their teacher, I will use an iPad with a keyboard folio to lead instruction, display learning materials, and support interactive lessons both inside and outside the classroom for the students. Having portable tools allows me to seamlessly transition between indoor and outdoor learning spaces.

A comfortable outdoor rocking chair will give me a flexible teaching space where I can read aloud, conference with students, and guide small group instruction while we learn in nature-inspired environments.

My students love movement, collaboration, and hands-on learning. This outdoor classroom setup will help them stay engaged while building writing skills, observation skills, and a deeper connection to learning.
