Help me give my students a calming room. This calming room will positively impact hundreds of elementary students by providing them with a safe and supportive environment to regulate emotions, reduce stress, and build lifelong self-management skills.

My Project

At PRES, we believe that every child deserves a safe and supportive environment where they can learn, grow, and feel emotionally secure. Many of our students face challenges both inside and outside of school that can impact their ability to focus, regulate emotions, and fully engage in learning.

We are seeking support to create a dedicated calming room for our elementary students—a peaceful, sensory-friendly space where students can reset, practice self-regulation strategies, and return to class ready to learn.

This room will provide students with healthy coping tools and emotional support during moments of stress, anxiety, frustration, or overstimulation.

Our calming room will be used by students who need short breaks to regulate emotions, participate in restorative conversations, or utilize sensory supports. The space will include comfortable seating, soft lighting, sensory tools, calming visuals, mindfulness activities, and flexible seating options designed to help students feel safe and supported.

By creating this calming environment, we hope to:

Reduce behavioral disruptions

Increase instructional time

Support students’ social-emotional development

Teach healthy coping and self-regulation skills

Create a more positive and inclusive school climate

Many of our students come from high-needs backgrounds and benefit greatly from structured emotional supports within the school day. Having a calming room will allow us to proactively support students before behaviors escalate and help them develop lifelong emotional regulation skills.

Your support will help us create a nurturing environment where students feel valued, understood, and empowered to succeed both academically and emotionally.
