Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a magnet school that focuses on STEM and World Languages. Each year we have amazing students that bring so many unique personalities and perspectives to our school.

Our 7th and 8th graders come from all around the city to form a community where we focus on our core values of rigor, community, relationships, and drive.

Through innovative programs, we are showing some of the most rapid growth in the state as measured by standardized test score improvement. Instructional time is essential to maintaining and increasing our level of growth in the classroom.

My Project

There are many factors and variables that can get in the way of our students learning. Creating a calming space within the classroom is not always possible or easy when it comes to middle school.

By providing light covers for the harsh fluorescent lighting, fidgets for "on the go" students, and lavender oil for my classroom oil diffuser, I hope to create that calming space for students to learn and grow.

The more I read and study up on the teenage brain I realize that many resources that I would have felt were elementary in the past are actually more essential and critical to my middle school classroom now. Please consider contributing to help me maintain a calm and mindful classroom.
