Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Students can't learn when they are feeling dysregulated. Sometimes they just need a few minutes in a quiet spot to calm down. These materials will be welcomed additions to the "calm corner" in my classroom next year.
Picture this: students can soothe themselves as they make designs in the sequined fabric on the wall.
They can sit in a comfortable chair and use the noise canceling headphones to help them ignore distractions. The organizer boxes will store fidget toys that students can use, and they will be labeled to help keep track of items. Rotating through two boxes will reduce wear and tear on the items and provide students with a sense of novelty all year long. Finally, the visual timer will help both myself and the student to know when it's time to check in with each other and get back to learning.
