My Project

My students are 5-6-year-olds who are excited about school and the new adventures ahead. They love learning but find it hard to make it through the school day because of social and emotional struggles. I am asking for these materials to provide a calming corner in my classroom.

The students will have a place they can go within our classroom to have a break, breathe, refocus, and get ready to return to learning.

The calming corner will have chairs that rock and sensory tools to help them calm down their emotions and breathe. I am asking for water bubblers, stress balls, breathing mazes, and magnetic drawing boards. All of these items will help students to calm down and refocus. They will learn to use the tools to breathe and calm down their emotions so they can return to regular classroom activities. I have also asked for wobble chairs and bouncy bands. The students can use these items at their desks. These give kids an outlet to move and bounce if they struggle to stay focused or feel anxious during the day.

I am excited to provide my students with items to help them learn to manage their emotional needs. Creating a corner for my students to breathe, refocus, and prepare to go back to learning will benefit their social and emotional needs.
