This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This year I have the opportunity to teach an expanded Transitional Kindergarten class. For many of my students, this will be their first school experience. Most of my students recently turned 5 years old and are very energetic and lively.

I would like to create a calm and safe area in my classroom to help students with their emotions.

I would like to create a space to help my students self regulate when emotions are running too high. I would like to provide various strategies to help students self regulate their emotions.

The Soft Squeezy Animals will allow my students to have the needed input to help with self regulation and the stimuli needed to help calm down. The Easy Squeeze Fine Motor Scoops will allow my students to utilize various instruments to help ease their emotions by scooping various materials. The Create Play Magnetic Monsters and Lakeshore Alphabet Cones will enable my students to express their emotions through creative play. The Gel Based Emotion Friends will help my students communicate their emotions when they aren't able to verbalize how they are feeling. The Alphabet Nature Carpet will allow my students to have a safe and comfortable place to help self regulate. The Medium Lakeshore Tuff Tote and the Classic Birch 8-Cubby Storage Unit will help create an organized space for my students.

I would like to provide a safe and comfortable space for my young learners as they develop and manipulate the world around them. I want my students to develop a love and admiration for school. These materials will enable me to develop a calm space to help students regulate their emotions.
