My Project

My group of wonderful 2nd graders are smart, excited to come to school, and ready to learn! They are very bright and bubbly, which makes for a familial classroom environment, but one also in need of some regulation on noise and fidgety bodies.

The items on my list will each play an important role in supporting my students’ learning and well-being.

Calm strips and other SEL tools provide a quiet, sensory tool that helps students reduce stress and stay focused without distracting others. Playdoh and fidget toys give students a hands-on way to regulate their emotions and channel their energy in a positive, creative way. Items like lap desks allow for flexible seating so students can work in comfortable spaces that meet their individual needs, helping them stay engaged and on task. Construction paper and paint can spark creativity during writing, art, and classroom projects, giving students opportunities to express themselves and build confidence. Together, these items will help my students feel calm, supported, and ready to learn each day.
