Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This school year I have the pleasure of teaching 22 wonderfully unique children. Each requiring different strategies to meet their social needs in order to be successful in their academics. As a teacher for over 15 years, I have noticed this year more than ever the need for a safe space within the classroom for children to explore their emotions. Many are coming to school and struggling to control their feelings, making it difficult to thrive in academic areas. Teaching students with disabilities can be challenging, however with the correct tools, all children can learn. Providing these children with an area within the classroom that is quiet and calm will help them learn the coping strategies needed to participate within the general education classroom.
