My students need the opportunity to grow life skills that come through developing their love for reading with books like A Fabumouse Vacation for Geronimo, and other books.
This project expired on September 25, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
Books open avenues of adventure and learning through connecting to the characters. My third graders are just developing to the point in their learning to think of books as more than just words. Each child in my class loves hearing stories, although their skills vary greatly.
Giving them some books will give them a chance to learn through the eyes and actions of the characters in the story.
Their own character can be strengthened by what they learn from these characters and their story. In addition they will build their language and communication skills, and imagination.
With the pride of ownership, they would have the wonderful opportunity to have books that start them along the path of life-long learners practicing reading and developing a love for it. They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each year!
My students will gain a respect for books through ownership of their own books. They can handle the books and read the stories over and over. Spending time with the characters like a close friend. They can learn life skills through the characters mishaps, problem solving, and fun.
These books from Kaplan Early Learning Company and AKJ Education will help my class be prepared for fourth grade.
The students will also feel appreciation and gratitude for the people who donate and make these books possible for them.
In turn, when they grow-up, they may be in a position to donate to others, as they remember the generosity shown to them through donorschoose.org.
