Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Cabeza, hombre rodilla y pie! Is a song my students have learned and love to sing. My students need to have access to a variety of Spanish children's songs, books and games. I am trying to create a strong foundation in their language development by providing access to Spanish content.

My students are kindergarten KIPPsters attending a second-year charter school.

My African American and Latino students come from an impoverished community in Los Angeles. They are fighting all odds against them and becoming another statistic is not in their plans. They have a desire to learn, attend college and succeed. The majority of my students are learning Spanish as a second language. The only access they have to Spanish language, literature and music is at school.

My Project

I have requested a music CD library so that my students have access to a variety of children's songs in Spanish. This will allow my students to enjoy music in a different language. I have also requested a CD Read-Along library so that my students have access to literature in Spanish. These new books can be used as listening centers. Games! I have also requested games in Spanish so that students can have fun learning a new language. These materials will help me build a strong foundation in their language development.

My students will be prepared for our multicultural communities.

It will allow them to communicate with people from different backgrounds. I hope to spark an interest in Spanish and develop love for a second language. I want to open doors to a new world!
