Butterfly High in the Sky!

My Project

2nd Grade students are currently working on the unit entitled, "Life Cycles in Nature." Teachers have absolutely LOVED having classroom butterfly kits in their classrooms in past years when we were able to obtain them.

The butterfly kits give students a hands-on, first hand view of life cycles in action in real time.

Students are filled with so much wonderment and excitement to come in and see which stage their larvae have grown to each day. The hands-on component of the Butterfly Kits truly solidifies student understanding of the concepts we explore during the unit.

Unit explorations include the cycle of daytime and nighttime, the reasons for seasons and looking at characteristics of each season, the water cycle, whether the chicken or the egg came first, and the life cycles of plants, frogs, and butterflies.
