Butterfly Biologists in the Making: A STEM Exploration

Help me give my students butterfly habitats, everyday classroom supplies, and snacks to stay focused.

Ms. Feagin Sidener Academy for High Ability Students

Indianapolis, IN Grades 3-5

My Project

My fifth graders are naturally curious scientists who thrive when they can explore STEM concepts through hands‑on experiences. This project will give them the opportunity to raise butterflies, observe life cycles, and deepen their understanding of the world around them. Along with butterfly habitats and materials, we also need essential supplies to support everyday learning and keep our classroom running smoothly.

Imagine trying to learn while your stomach is growling.

We all know snacks can give us a little motivation to help us through our hangry times. That’s why I keep snacks in our classroom—so when tummies start rumbling, I can quickly calm hunger and keep focus from slipping away. Your support will help create a classroom where students feel cared for, prepared, and excited to learn through meaningful STEM exploration. With your help, my students can grow, observe, experiment, and stay fully engaged throughout the day.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
