This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
"Every realm of nature is marvelous"- Aristotle. This year my students will be studying butterflies through art and science.
I teach an amazing group of second grade students.
We are a title one school where over 70% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. Our school has an awesome group of students who love learning and are excited to come to school each day to learn new things.
My Project
I am requesting butterfly kits and art supplies for our butterfly unit. We will be observing the life cycle of the butterfly by watching the caterpillar go through it's metamorphosis cycle. We will be using the art supplies to journal our observations by drawing and coloring art pieces to materialize our observations.
My students will be given a hands-on real world experience through their butterfly study.
So often, we are left to reading about these things to learn about them. With this project, I expect my students to become more knowledgeable about this scientific concept we are learning. This project will also facilitate Empowering Students Through Art, They will also be engaged and excited about learning through the use of artistic exploration we are incorporating into this unit study.
