I have an amazing, diverse group of second grade scholars. We start our day with a high-five and good morning. My students are caring, kind and respectful At our school, we have over 70% of our scholars who are on Free/Reduced lunch. We have a mix of all ethnic backgrounds. In my class I have ELL students from Brazil, Columbia and Iraq. Due to the low socioeconomic background of many students, they do not get to go to a public library or bookstore often and many don't have access to technology at home. In my classroom, I try to keep my students motivated to read by providing them with a variety of new books in my classroom library. We have created a safe environment where curiosity and learning new things takes place all day, every day. My scholars work with partners in centers and love trying out new things.
