This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
What is the first story you read where you wanted to be the main character? I wanted to be Ramona Quimby! As a new third grade teacher I want to provide stories for my students to read, that will make them want to jump right into the book and be a part of it.
When school starts my class will be filled with 19 8 and 9 year olds.
They are excited and energetic and are always looking for something to catch their interest. My students come from a high poverty area, where reading and learning may not always the be first priority in their home. I want to provide an exciting and inviting reading experience in the classroom. Many of my students come to school looking for a safe place to be, eat, learn, and express themselves. I want my students to be able to explore outside worlds through the books they read that they most likely will not experience in real life or outside the classroom.
My Project
Through your generous donation, my students will be able to explore worlds they have never imagined. Reading the books in this project will provide the gateway to open their imaginations. They will be able to sit in our reading corner and explore a mystery. The students will be able to take home stories of humor or space. While at home they will be able to read further into of worlds they can only dream of being a part of or they can share where they have been in their fictional trip with their family. Whether at school or at home, my students will be able to use these stories to jump into fantasy worlds.
After reading these books, my students will be able to explore the world of writing and further reading.
They will be able to use the fantastic worlds they have read about to express their own imaginary tales and travels. They will also be able to further their reading of their favorite characters through the next book in the series that you donation has provided them.
