Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students come to school from diverse backgrounds and home lives. They love coming to school and are eager to learn. But we are still seeing the effects of the pandemic on young children and many of them struggle with foundational reading skills.

Students need to be able to manipulate letters to build words so they can learn letter sounds and spelling patterns.

This makes a huge difference in the process of learning to read. It helps them develop fluency, gives them phonemic awareness and vocabulary development.

I work with numerous small groups throughout the day as a Reading Specialist to help enforce these reading skills. These magnetic letters and white boards will help students become fluent readers! The foundational reading skills taught by manipulating letters and sounds help our students become great readers and develop a love for reading that will change the course of their entire lives.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
