My Project

This project will fill our book shelves with books that are representative of our Hispanic students. It is important for students especially newcomers to see themselves within the books in their classrooms. Many of the books are written in both English and Spanish to allow students to learn to read in both languages. Students cannot learn to read in a language if they do not have access to materials to read in the language. These materials will also allow other students a look into the Spanish language and the experiences of immigrants.

Having the alphabet arcs will allow students to practice skills throughout the entire school year. At the beginning of the year students will work on letter identification and as the year progresses building words. For our newcomer students it is important they are getting lots of practice and opportunities with learning English.
