My Students

My 7th grade English Language Arts and 6-8th English Language Development classroom is a place students come to feel safe and accepted while learning and expanding their horizons.

My classes are made up of a diverse group of students from a variety of cultures, religions, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The range of student abilities, knowledge, and potential within my classes has weaved a foundation for a quintessential learning environment where students accept, assist, and motivate one another on a daily basis.

It is through this positive atmosphere and genuine acceptance that my students feel safe, secure, and comfortable being their true selves. Many of my students do not have familial support at home, so I ensure that the experience they have in my classroom each day emulates the well-structured and loving environment they deserve.

My Project

One of the most significant aspects of any classroom is the classroom environment. In my classroom, I do my best to ensure my students are rewarded extrinsically and intrinsically by providing opportunities for growth mindset, and forever expanding intellect. In addition to providing opportunities for self-reflection, constructive feedback and praise from their teacher, I do my best to pass out small treats as rewards for a job well done.

During the pandemic many of my students struggled with social-emotional development, so I have worked diligently on building a classroom environment that supports the need for socialization and learning, in hopes to cultivate a stable environment where all of my students feel welcome and safe to learn.

I will work on establishing this type of classroom by using these materials on in-class group projects and to provide student-rewards through our school positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) system.
