Building Future Leaders- Captains Council

My Project

We are working with a captain's council to help develop leadership skills that our students will bring back to their teams and programs. To quote, Warren Bennis, "The most dangerous leadership myth is that leaders are born-that there is a genetic factor to leadership. That’s nonsense; infact, the opposite is true. Leaders are made rather than born.”

Developing leadership skills takes time, well planned instruction, providing opportunities to struggle and rebound, to learn to take setbacks in stride, to set goals and evaluate progress towards them, communicate effectively with a wide range of audiences, and solve problems creatively.

With weekly planned opportunities and experiences, we will support these student-athletes on their social and emotional growth journeys. This project includes materials for a wide range of team building activities, team challenges, and books filled with new ideas that we can present to them.

Throughout the school year, we are working with three different cycles of amazing students who will be put into various leadership positions.
