My Project

My fourth-graders are bright, motivated, and eager to learn skills that will help them succeed in life. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wide range of experiences to our classroom. Many of them are learning about money management for the first time, and I want to give them a strong foundation in financial literacy through a fun, hands-on classroom economy system.

This project will transform our classroom economy from concept to reality.

The goal is to teach the students financial literacy through a classroom economy. Students earn classroom currency for completing tasks and demonstrating good behavior, then use it to "purchase" privileges or items. Students run a mini-economy, earning, saving, and spending classroom currency.

This system teaches budgeting, saving, and responsible decision-making in a way that’s engaging and meaningful. Students will be able to purchase prizes and rewards, like snacks, stickers, erasers, and pencils. The TPT cards are used to help purchase lessons in the class economy, and the teacher's toolbox to store rewards.
