Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are some of the strongest, most resilient young learners I have ever met. Many come from low-income households, and half of my class receives special education services in our collaborative setting. Despite the challenges they face, they walk into our classroom with bright smiles, big hearts, and an eagerness to learn in their own unique ways. What I love most is how they celebrate one another. They notice each other’s strengths, cheer on each other’s progress, and create a classroom community where every child feels seen and valued.

My students learn best through hands-on exploration, sensory play, and creative building.

The materials in this project were chosen with their needs in mind. The Magna-Tiles, magnetic cars, and construction sets will give my students opportunities to design, build, and create in ways that help them grow their problem‑solving, fine motor, and early STEM skills. For many of my students with special needs, these tools allow them to show what they know without relying solely on language or writing.

The sensory bins, rainbow rice, pluffle foam, sand, gems, and tools will give my students the calming, regulating experiences they rely on throughout the day. Sensory play helps them manage big emotions, soothe overwhelmed bodies, and reconnect with learning when the world feels too loud or too fast. These materials also support language development, motor skills, and social interactions—areas where many of my students need extra practice and gentle encouragement.

The transportation sets and construction-themed toys create natural opportunities for storytelling, sharing, and cooperative play. These moments build confidence, communication skills, and friendships.

With your support, my students will have the tools they need to learn, explore, and thrive. You aren’t just funding materials—you’re giving my students joy, confidence, and the chance to feel truly successful.
