Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are fun loving, caring and love challenges. They enjoy engaging discussions and interactive projects revolving around multiple subjects. Everyday they come to school with a positive attitude that allows them to be be open to new concepts and ideas. I am in awe on a daily basis with the effort and excitement with which my students learn and grow.

My class has a wide range of personalities, skills sets and creative abilities which need to be nurtured consistently.

I enjoy coming to work everyday and getting to interact and learning from my students.

At the beginning of every school year my goal is to ensure students leave my class with a genuine love of reading. This year they have gained an affinity for reading. Each student looks forward to challenging themselves. They are also more aware of their abilities and what they can do to better themselves.

My Project

My classroom currently does not have a solid library. I have very few books at much needed differentiated levels. It has been difficult finding the resources to build a library that can consistently progress like my students do.

This project is meant to allow my students to continue growing their love of reading by providing exciting books at different levels and subjects.

I believe the books chosen are varied and diverse enough to keep my students engaged and wanting to go back to my library over and over, which is ultimately my goal. I want my students to have more freedom and autonomy in choosing which book will take them on a journey.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
