This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a teacher in an EC Resource classroom serving 1st and 2nd grade students, I have the wonderful opportunity to support students with a variety of learning needs in both Math and ELA. I am excited to create a classroom environment where my students feel confident, supported, and successful. However, I am starting this school year with very limited instructional materials.

I am asking for support to build our classroom library of educational resources, including Math and ELA materials, colorful educational posters, hands-on manipulatives, visual supports, task cards, and other resources designed for young learners.

Posters will be especially valuable in our classroom because they will provide students with visual reminders of important skills and concepts. Math posters can reinforce addition, subtraction, place value, shapes, number sense, and problem-solving strategies. ELA posters can support letter sounds, phonics, reading strategies, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and comprehension. Having these resources displayed around the classroom will give my students a constant visual reference they can use while learning and working independently.

Hands-on and differentiated materials will also allow me to provide instruction at each student's individual level while keeping them connected to their grade-level learning. Students will be able to practice skills through games, manipulatives, visual activities, and small-group instruction rather than relying solely on worksheets.

Your support will help me transform an under-resourced classroom into a welcoming learning environment filled with resources that students can see, touch, practice with, and use every day. Most importantly, these materials will help my students build confidence and experience success in Math and ELA.
