My students are an amazing group of diverse children that are excited to learn and grow. My classroom is for students ages 3 to 5 years old. My students are developmentally delayed and many need one-on-one specially designed instruction. Lessons are tailored to each student's daily needs. My Pre-K class is smart, kind, and creative. My kids are filled with joy, excitement, and a true love for learning. They are the reason that I love what I do!
Being able to explore emotions in a fun and safe way helps young children process their big emotions when the time comes.
When young children are faced with big emotions, they can become overwhelmed. This feeling can affect their ability to cope. Personal responsibility and Emotional resilience is the ability to regulate emotions during times of stress. It helps children understand how and why they experience a certain feeling during a moment. It helps children manage their emotions in a healthy, constructive way. Resilience is important because it’s what children need to process and overcome hardship.
Working with a variety of hands-on opportunities allows each student a different way to understand emotions. PK standard III.B.1.a "demonstrates an ability to self regulate" is the standard I will be working on with these items. Play-Doh mats provide a touch experience for working with different emotions during the day. Sensory input is key for many of our little learners. Puzzles and games allow a student to match emotions and identify what the emotion looks like.
