Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Can you imagine playing with broken sand toys or missing pieces to a beautiful puzzle? Our Kindergarten students are faced with the challenge that their toys are sun weathered and broken. This does not allow for imaginative play students like most, don’t complain, they just make the best of it.

Our 114 kindergarten students are spectacular!

Our school is located in a low socio-economic community. We have hard working parents that want the best for their children. Our school is a Title I school with 65% of its population on free or reduced lunch. We have 5 Kindergarten classes that range from 20-25 students in each class. We have a high percentage of English Language Learners and students with Special Needs. Our children are explorers at this age and we want to provide manipulatives on our outside playground that are not torn and tattered.

My Project

The manipulatives that we are requesting will create activity areas that children want to stay at. Our students need a variety of activities to look forward to. Not the same broken and dreary games of every day. These new manipulatives will help with the students that would rather pick up rocks and throw them because they didn’t get a turn at a center. These manipulatives would allow for more quality imaginative play and less wasted time. The educational manipulative would open their imaginations.

With these educational manipulatives, our Kindergarten students will be able to use their imagination on the playground.
