My students need colored paper for lesson differentiation, flip chart for student led projects, and lab materials for our weekly science lab!
Think back to your high school science class, what do you think of? I personally think back to all the labs that my classes did. Unfortunately, my students do not get to experience labs because we are lacking materials.
My students are sophomores through seniors at an inner-city high school.
It is a tier 1 school where 95% of students qualify for free or reduced price lunch. Our student body is about 50% African American and 50% Latino. Many of our students are English Language Learners. Despite many of the hardships facing the student body, most of these students are dedicated learners with incredible potential. They strive to make better futures for themselves through education.
I am trying to get supplies for my students so that we can complete labs and actives in our classroom. The paper I am requesting will be used to help continue my classroom on going effort for organization. The lab materials will be used to help bring the material we are learning in lecture to life. Many of the topics we are discussing are complex, so by having access to these materials we will build on concepts that we learn during the lecture portion of class. In addition, the office supplies will allow for us to stay organized.
My project is important because I want to engage my students in science.
By having lab activities, we will be able to learn by doing and gain a better understanding of everything environmental science related.
