Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My third-grade Dual Language students are curious, energetic, creative, and eager to learn. They come to school with different experiences, strengths, learning styles, and academic needs. As their teacher, I want to create a classroom where every student has the opportunity to participate, ask questions, collaborate, and see themselves as a successful learner.

Our classroom serves students in a Title I school where resources can make a tremendous difference.

Many of my students benefit from visual, interactive, and hands-on learning experiences. In a Dual Language classroom, students are also constantly developing their academic language in both English and Spanish.

Technology is most powerful when it is used to increase student engagement and provide students with opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to access.

An interactive display would help me create lessons where students are not just observers—they are active participants.

It will allow me to differentiate instruction by providing visual, auditory, interactive, and language supports. It will also help me reach students who learn best by seeing concepts modeled or physically interacting with information.

Most importantly, this project is about giving my students access to opportunities that will help them they can do it.

During Math, my students will be able to use virtual manipulatives, number lines, models, graphs, and interactive problem-solving activities. Students can come to the board to demonstrate their thinking and explain how they solved a problem.

This is especially valuable in mathematics because students need opportunities to see, model, explain, and justify their mathematical thinking.

During science, the Smart Board will allow students to explore diagrams, videos, simulations, life cycles, experiments, and other visual representations that make abstract science concepts easier to understand.

Students can make predictions, record observations, analyze information, and explain their learning directly on the interactive display.
