My Project

Being a Title 1 Charter School, we do not have all the opportunities of public schools such as a library on campus. As an educator, my love and passion for my kids encouraged me to create a small library in a corner of my first grade classroom, but it does not meet all the needs of students' reading levels in my class. I need your help to achieve my goal to provide best learning environment and tools for my students. I have 24 enthusiastic first graders with 5 English Language Learners (ELL Students) that embark on learning to read phonetically and fluently on a daily basis. My ELL students struggle, but through your support can help them to achieve success.

All of these materials would add so much excitement to our Literacy Library and Literacy Center Time.

Students have independent reading and group center time daily. During Morning Reading Time, students would use the reading books and space for flexible seating. During Afternoon Literacy Centers, each student has a choice to sit at their desk and read a book independently, in a group or with me, to choose word puzzles to build, to play different literacy games, or to make a book out of construction paper and pencils. When literacy is made fun, students don't realize how much is being learned. During Center Time, they are able to work in Literacy Centers and interact with other students in a fun productive manner.

Reading books will help improve phonemic awareness and rhyming skills to build these adults of tomorrow's confidence in Reading fluency. The goal is to provide students with more variety of books to intrigue their interests. You can help these young minds to grow to love Reading. Thank you for your love and support of my students.
