Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are great. They really are. They are a fierce group of eager learners who take full advantage of our slightly different from normal learning space. My kids come from diverse neighborhoods in a diverse city that is constantly redefining and reinventing itself, and so are they. Our room is the go-to spot for many of the students in our academy, whether we teach them or not, and it is a safe space that is always in use. My students are ready to learn.

My Project

Our school library has no books. To give our students the same opportunities as their peers in other schools we built our own extensive classroom library. When school went virtual, we sent books from our classroom library home with our students to give them the chance to keep reading and to hopefully occupy their time while they were stuck at home.

Our students came back this fall; the books did not.

Now we need help to rebuild our classroom library. Our classroom is home to both English and History classes, so we are asking for a mixture of books and appreciate any help we can get.
