My Students

My students live in a farming community. More than 50% of our school is on the free or reduced lunch program. Over 40% of our student population is serviced on an IEP (special education) or on a 504 plan (has a physical or mental health disability that limits one or more major life function). Our school focuses on project based learning which is a teaching method in which students gain knowledge and skills by working for an extended period of time to investigate and respond to an engaging and complex question, problem, or challenge.

My Project

Students requested Scholastic Magazines last school year because they want to incorporate what they are learning in the classroom to their daily lives outside of the classroom.

News is not just for old men with money.

Scholastic Magazines provide awesome opportunities for our students to do that! We are requesting magazines at various grade levels so all students regardless of the ability have access to today's news! We are requesting DynaMath to support our Math team, Just Write! to support our writing group, Choices to support social group and health and Scholastic Action Map Skills for Today to support social studies classes.
