My students and I enjoy reading and analyzing all types of books, fiction and nonfiction alike. Books allow them to use their imaginations in order to create a picture inside their heads, and a good book can create lifelong learners and true critical thinkers. Some students like reading on their devices, but most students, believe it or not, like to actually have a book in their hand.
Students would love to share their knowledge of reading with their families to create a family reading literature circle.
Books are the windows to our souls and they allow us to imagine different worlds, think critically, analyze and evaluate different situations, and to empathize with others. They make us laugh and cry within only a couple of pages. They allow us to escape the reality of life and they say the things that we didn't even know that we wanted to say. These books would bridge the gap between home and school and allow students and their families to enjoy reading together during family reading nights.
My Project
Reading is one of the most important life skills for students to master; however, family time is crucial, as well. Why not combine the two and have a reading night where families can unite and read together with their children? This is the plan! By creating a classroom library, students can check out books, bring them home, and read with their families. This will not only improve their reading skills, but it will create a family of readers.
The partnership between home and school is absolutely necessary for extended learning and student success; which is why creating a time where families can read together will bridge school to home and create memories to last a lifetime.
These books would benefit both parents and students in the learning process and create a partnership between home and school making everyone feel successful. This classroom library will improve reading skills, create lifelong learners and readers, and teach that there is more to life than the world we live in. These books will keep students and families engaged and their minds active.
