My students are learning to develop a love of reading. My students are below standard in reading and these books will help them increase their reading scores. \r\n\r\nBy reading books that interests them, their reading scores will increase and that will transfer to them being able to read their grade level material, get better grades and see that reading is cool and they will want to read, instead of avoiding reading.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in my students.","fullyFundedDate":1744262267971,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-needs-new-books/9228431/","projectTitle":"Classroom Needs New Books","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Frisby","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8996606_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1722487160729","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8996606"},{"teacherId":9577682,"projectId":8471984,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your generosity in funding my classroom's reading project. Thanks to you, my students now have access to a range of books that not only excite them but also empower them to discover the joy of reading. The impact of your support has been immediate and profound.\r\n\r\nSince introducing these new books, reading has transformed in our classroom. The texts have opened doors for deep discussions and meaningful connections among my students. As you know, one of the goals of this project was to spark excitement for reading and make the practice more enjoyable and accessible. With these books, we've been able to create engaging literature circles where students work together, share ideas, and dive into texts they can relate to. For many of my students, reading was previously a frustrating or uninteresting task, but now they eagerly engage with stories that feel real and relevant to their lives.\r\n\r\nThese books are not just about improving reading skills—they are also a key part of fostering academic conversations, a skill that has been especially important in the wake of the pandemic. By discussing books in their groups, students are building confidence and learning to express themselves thoughtfully. It's wonderful to see the way these new texts have given students a platform to connect with one another and explore shared experiences, especially considering how diverse our classroom is. \r\n\r\nThere are particular students who are thriving with these books—students who were once disengaged have come to life with these new stories. They are diving into conversations with a newfound enthusiasm, not only about the characters and plots but also about how these books mirror their own lives and experiences. I can already see how these new texts are building self-confidence, helping students realize they are capable readers and thinkers.\r\n\r\nIn short, this project is making a significant difference, and it is all because of your thoughtful contribution. I can't thank you enough for believing in the potential of these young readers and for helping us create a classroom where the joy of reading can flourish.","fullyFundedDate":1728312590069,"projectUrl":"project/sparking-the-joy-of-reading/8471984/","projectTitle":"Sparking the Joy of Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Schumacker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9577682"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_24014","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":873,"numTeachers":37,"percentFrplEligible":30,"percentAsian":31,"percentBlack":10,"percentWhite":21,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":21,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"23.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":87.0,"schoolId":24014,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Green Valley Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Green Valley Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fairfield-suisun-unified-school-district/green-valley-middle-school/24014"}
