Bring Computer Science Ideas To Life

Help me give my students materials to make the abstract computational topics easier to understand

My Project

Our AP Computer Science Principles curriculum relies heavily on hands-on materials to bring abstract concepts to life. Last year, as I returned to teaching the course, I found myself constantly using two-day shipping to order supplies lesson by lesson.

This year, my goal is to proactively build a durable, reusable library of materials for teaching fundamental computational concepts.

These resources will benefit not just this year’s students, but classes for years to come.

For instance, students use color-coded Post-it notes to visually manipulate data types—yellow for numbers, pink for strings, and blue for Booleans—making invisible code tangible.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
