Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a math teacher who works with mostly minority students, providing intense targeted support to ensure they are eligible to attend a university. Most of my students are creative scholars that aspire to go into the field of art or engineering. They belong to pathways, or academies, with classes that focus on the arts, architecture, manufacturing, and engineering.

My ultimate goal is for my students to reach their full academic potential and improve their social-emotional well being by ensuring they have access to high quality education, support, and resources.

My school does not provide teachers with a color printer or ink. Access to a color printing will literally brighten up our classroom, mood, and make my students’ learning experience more engaging.

Many of my activities focus on social emotional learning and building character and self confidence. I believe it is important to display student work and projects to have students take ownership and feel pride in their creations. I also believe that acknowledging students, with their names on a bulletin board or through certificates, is important and helps improve morale. For this, printing in color is crucial. The color ink will also allow me to create visual aids and graphic organizers that make learning more engaging and accessible to all students, especially to English Learner students or students with special needs. I believe it is important to have a learning environment that is positive and visually appealing to students. Having access to this printer will allow me to create a learning space that my students need and deserve. Thank you for your support.
