Many of my students have limited access to reading materials and resources for improving this fundamental skill.
My students are a diverse group of students.
Our school boundary lines encompass multiple neighborhoods of all socio-economic statuses. While most of my students are beginning to be technologically savvy, they lack a strong foundation in reading skills for core literature. Having a class sets of Shakespeare that help bridge the gap between older English and modern language is a critical tool to make literature accessible and thus, able to be expanded.
I teach 175 students each year. Having class sets of No Fear Shakespeare as well as modern poetry will allow me to make core literature texts more accessible.
My goal is to produce stronger readers who genuinely love to read.
While many students hate reading time, most admit that the biggest problem is lack of understanding (comprehension) of core texts. The classroom sets are designed to bridge the language gap from centuries old English to modern day.
Any help is appreciate and I am certain my students will benefit for years to come! Thank you for your time, donation, and support of the noble profession of teaching.
