The students at my elementary school are a special group of kids. The school community is close knit and feels like a family. Staff members truly feel like the students are their children and care deeply for each one of them.
As the Library Media Specialist, I am lucky enough to work with each of them.
I get the opportunity to teach all of the students each week and see their smiling faces and excitement for learning. There are many interests and learning styles among the students. It is my goal to create a Library Media Center that meets all of the needs and interests of the students.
My Project
Please help me build a LEGO wall in my elementary Library Media Center. Students learn 21st Century Skills in the library. We focus on the 4 C’s. Students learn and implement them in the library. With the LEGO wall they will be able to use critical thinking by problem solving, paying attention to detail, and incorporating math skills while building on the wall. Communication will also be practiced when working with others. Their communication might be social, but can also be used to work together and talk through their ideas as well as listen to others. Students will collaborate with their peers while constructing the Legos. They will have to plan and create together. The LEGO wall will allow them to let their creativity shine. They can use the different varieties of Legos to make their ideas come to life. The LEGO wall will provide the students a chance to use and practice the 4 C’s in the Library Media Center.
